Slovakia, Slovak Republic, in Slovak: Slovensko and Slovenská republika, is a country located in Central Europe, in the heart of continental Europe and to the east of the European Union. It borders Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the west and the Czech Republic to the west-northwest. It was part of Czechoslovakia.
